How many of you have a special affinity for your sport fishing tackle?  Did it start as a child when you would look into your tackle box and feel like you needed to fill up every slot with a lure to be satisfied? Did you spend more time looking at all the lures at the sporting goods store than you did candy at the grocery store?  And you just couldn’t wait to get to the lake or stream where you could try out your latest lures, right?

Of course, without sport fishing tackle there would be no sport fishing.  While the whole tackle thing can get a bit out of hand, it’s clear that some lures work better under certain situations than do others.  And knowing what kinds of conditions call for particular lures and tackle is invaluable.  Choosing the right tackle is an art, and as you get more experienced with various fish and fishing conditions you will learn which tackle is most likely to bring success.  Of course, your fishing friends will have no shortage of advice.

It doesn’t matter if it’s fishing reels, fishing line, or fishing lures – or whether the topic is fly fishing or fly-tying gear – you will find no shortage of stores to meet your needs – and overwhelm you with choices.  If you find yourself looking into your wallet or checking your credit card balance to see if you can afford just one more piece of sport fishing tackle, it’s a good change you are an addict.  Relax.  You’re in great company!
